Case Study 3
Large Safety-net Academic Instutition

This organization is a leading provider of health care services to the underserved and vulnerable populations in its region. It runs two hospitals, multiple clinics and a correctional health facility, all powered by Epic. As an early adopter of Epic, the organization faced challenges with outdated build, inconsistent data and diverse workflows. RCI was brought in to optimize the performance, quality and safety of Epic's medication management applications and the pharmacy automation systems that support them. RCI helped pharmacy services achieve its high-reliability goal by enhancing the IT teams' alignment with current best practice standards and ISMP recommendations. RCI also helped the organization develop a formal pharmacy informatics program that can be easily scaled up in the future to meet the changing needs of the patients. RCI's work was recognized and appreciated by the organization, which extended the contracts three times of the original agreement.
